Remember the photo of the giant caterpillar we took a month ago. (Click here to view) Anyway since then it has been cocooned up for almost a month now. The same tree that it's cocooned it, there are several other cocoons of similar breed. Anyway just two days ago, we noticed that there were lots of butterflies / moth hanging around the tree and then realised these are the product of that giant caterpillar!!!
Anyway we found one which just came out of the cocoon, it was all shrivelled up (the wings were slowly spreading open over the course of 1 hour), here's how the giant caterpillar looks like when it's come out of it's cocoon.
The butterfly/moth all like to congregate near a fellow friend's cocoon. Why is that, I wonder?
Looks like a heart shape on its wing (when the wings are together)
Do stay tuned for more photographs of the butterfly/moth and what they have been up to (I promise it will be very interesting!)
