Bunga senduduk ungu (kuduk-kuduk) - KL, Malaysia

This purple flower is known as bunga senduduk ungu (other name kuduk-kuduk). The scientific name for it is Melastoma malabathricum. It grows wild near our home.

Apparently the blue dye from the fruit is used as a colouring for cloth. Its leaves are used for ulam (salad). You can view the fully opened flower here.
